REKAP OF APRIL & MAY EVENTS

Central Valley Nupes Celebrate Success with Kappa Kookout
What an incredible time we had at our recent Kappa Kookout! Gathered in Brother Blair's stunning backyard, we came together to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our chapter and bask in the joy of brotherhood. It was an occasion filled with laughter, good food, and cherished memories as we commemorated winning the Western Province Small Chapter of the Year and Reclamation Chapter of the Year awards, along with Brother Bailey's well-deserved Polemarch of the Year honor. Additionally, we marked a significant milestone - our chapter's 20-year anniversary, a testament to the enduring legacy of service and excellence we've built together.
As we mingled and reminisced about our journey, there was a palpable sense of pride and gratitude in the air. These awards and recognitions are a testament to the dedication and hard work of each and every member of our chapter. They also reaffirm our commitment to upholding the values of Kappa Alpha Psi and making a positive impact in our community. The Kappa Kookout wasn't just about celebrating our achievements; it was about coming together as brothers and families, sharing stories, and strengthening the bonds that unite us. We are immensely grateful to Brother Blair for opening his home to us and providing the perfect setting for our gathering.
Central Valley Nupes Make Waves at UC Merced

Inclusion Club Event

UC Merced Fraternity & Sorority Council Meeting

Delta Theta Sigma Yard Show
As Central Valley Nupes, we recently made our presence known at UC Merced, actively participating in three separate events on campus. Our engagement underscored our commitment to community outreach and fostering connections within the collegiate environment, aligning perfectly with one of our Fraternity Objectives: "Assist in the aims and purposes of Colleges and Universities."
At the school's club inclusion event, several of us manned a table, seizing the opportunity to engage with young men passing by and introduce them to our fraternity. It was a chance to share the values, traditions, and opportunities offered by Kappa Alpha Psi and to forge connections with potential future members.
During the Campus Fraternity & Sorority council meeting, we took center stage, delivering a presentation that delved into our fraternity's rich history, aims, and goals. We emphasized not only the national objectives of Kappa Alpha Psi but also the specific initiatives and aspirations tailored to our presence on the UC Merced campus.
The highlight of our engagement at UC Merced was undoubtedly the yard show hosted by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., the first and currently only NPHC organization on campus. We made a powerful statement as we arrived in numbers, showcasing some strolling and representing the fraternity with P&E!
These events at UC Merced exemplify our dedication to outreach, education, and fraternity pride. Our active involvement in campus life reflects our ongoing commitment to upholding the values of Kappa Alpha Psi while fostering meaningful connections within the collegiate community.
Central Valley Nupes Shine at Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Inc 2024 Emerald Debutante Ball

The Central Valley Nupes proudly participated in the highly esteemed Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Inc 2024 Emerald Debutante Ball, an event steeped in tradition and elegance. Hosted by the Gamma Eta Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Incorporated, this year's ball continued the chapter's legacy of excellence, spanning over 30 years. Our brothers showcased their talents and dedication in various roles throughout the evening, ensuring the event's success and grandeur.
Brother Kelly, with his photography company, skillfully captured the essence and beauty of the occasion, immortalizing precious moments for all attendees to cherish. Brother Bailey commanded the stage as the Master of Ceremonies, guiding the evening's festivities with grace and charisma. His eloquence and poise added a touch of refinement to the proceedings, setting the tone for an unforgettable evening. Brother Criner delivered an inspiring and heartfelt keynote address, imparting wisdom and encouragement to debutantes and guests alike. His words resonated deeply, leaving a lasting impression on all those in attendance. Adding a personal touch to the event, Brother Pennywell's son participated as one of the escorts, embodying the values of brotherhood and familial pride.
“BIG SIXX”
THE JEREMEY C. GUIDRY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Jeremey Guidry, affectionately known as Big Sixxx was a spring 96 initiate of PI Beta. Jeremey was the 6 Klub on the Proverbs 8 line. He was a beloved member of Kappa Alpha Psi and made a significant impact on those around him. He graduated with a BA in Liberal Studies and after graduation moved back to his hometown of Cerritos, CA. Professionally Jeremy taught middle school in the Los Angeles Unified School District and also served as a mentor to at promise youth through a non-profit organization. His dedication to education and mentorship, along with his vibrant personality, surely left a lasting impression on many. On August 18th 2019, at the young age of 43, Jeremy reached the golden shore. His passing was deeply felt by all those who knew and loved him. In honor of his memory the Brothers of Proverbs 8 created the Jeremy C. Guidry Memorial Scholarship. The Jeremey C. TODAY IN KAPPA ALPHA PSI

Kappa Alpha Nu became the first incorporated Black fraternity in the United States once granted a charter by the Indiana Secretary of State on May 15, 1911.
It was planned at the outset that the new organization would be incorporated as a national fraternity. An application was accordingly filed in the state of Indiana on April 11, 1911. Because of his friendship with Lee John Hunter, a Bloomington lawyer, handled the transaction without cost to the organization. The application was filed over the signatures of Ezra D. Alexander, Byron K. Armstrong, Henry T. Asher, Marcus P. Blakemore, Paul Caine, Elder Watson Diggs, George Edmonds, Guy L. Grant, Edward G. Irvin, John M. Lee and Frederick Mitchell. Mitchell subsequently withdrew from school and never returned, hence never became a member.
Blakemore pawned his watch to help raise the twenty-five dollar incorporation fee. The transaction was completed on May 15, 1911, and so far as is known, Kappa Alpha Nu became the first undergraduate college fraternity to be incorporated by blacks as a national body. It is a tribute to the democratic ideals of the Founders and to their faith in humanity that neither by statute nor implication was anyone barred from membership by reason of race, religion or national origin.
